Subsurface Engineering Consultant

Rotimi Ogunlowo is a Subsurface / Petroleum Engineering Consultant with emphasis on reservoir engineering, oil and gas production optimization and maximizing recovery. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree (BSc) in Petroleum engineering in 1987 from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He has attended several training, professional and management courses within and outside Nigeria. These included in reservoir engineering, planning and budgeting, petroleum economics, oil and gas contract negotiation, and leadership training from the prestigious Watson Business, Raleigh in North Carolina. He is a member of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) as well as Nigeria Society of Engineer (NSE). Rotimi has about 29 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, 26 years of which was with Mobil Producing Nigeria (ExxonMobil affiliate).

His work experience covers new and old field development, production optimization, reservoir simulation, secondary recovery via gas injection, development planning, planning and budgeting, field studies and reserves assessment, assets / reservoir management and opportunity generation group. He voluntarily retired in December 2015 as reservoir engineering advisor in Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN). He was the reservoir engineering regional advisor for ExxonMobil Production Company overseeing affiliates initially in Africa, Europe, Caspian and Russia. His role included opportunities generation and maturation, reservoir management, reserves evaluation, working with partners (Shell, Statoil, Total and NAM.) where ExxonMobil had equity. He served in various engineering management roles; supervisor in Reservoir Management group, supervisor in Reservoir Technology group and Area Asset Team Coordinator.

Early in his career, as Reservoir Engineer in Iyak, Enang, Ubit and Edop Fields carried out reservoir simulation for various projects such as enhanced oil recovery scheme using gas injection in complex reservoirs and reserves assessment; Mobil’s first horizontal well sensitivity analysis using simulation. He was also involved in Integrated Performance Modeling (IPM) of Edop / Etim / Asasa fileds using Mbal (material balance), Prosper (well modeling), GAP (production allocation) for integrating and evaluating the performance of many fields, reservoirs and wells under various operating scenarios.
